[ oh my god this is the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever written. Based on this. ]

The first thing Wash is aware of is the fact that York is very, very close. Mostly because he can smell his breath.

He can’t actually remember what all they drank last night — they’d started out with the IPA York had snagged on his last trip down to the planet, having charmed them out of the brunette behind the bar with, as he had claimed repeatedly, his “dashing good looks.” Wash still wasn’t sure how York could have looks with only one eye, but it wasn’t half as funny when he tried to crack that particular joke.

(He blamed it on the alcohol.)

The IPA had quickly turned into a round of poker with drinks, and then Maine had come in with a twelve-pack Wash really didn’t want to know the origin of, and eventually North had come out to see what all the noise was, and South always complained when he tried to play cards without her, and— well.

It was a wonder any of them made it to their rooms that night, really, and apparently, neither Wash nor York had. At least, he thinks the couch is underneath them, considering all he can really feel is York’s lumpy ass underneath him.
